Breakfast outside, no checkout queue and time to decide what the day needs.
First trip? You are in the right place.
The relaxed guide to travelling differently.
Campervan and campsite travel can feel unfamiliar before the first morning. This guide shows you the rhythm, the practical bits and the simple pleasures that make the journey worth taking.
A note from CampsAway
You do not need to be a camping expert.
CampsAway is for people who love the idea of a freer holiday, but do not want to spend weeks piecing together every road, overnight stop and practical detail.
We begin with how you want the trip to feel. Then we shape the route, pace and stay style around the people travelling—whether that means a campervan, a tent or a fixed campsite stay.
What it can feel like
A good day has room to change its mind.
Not every day follows the same plan—and that is part of the appeal. Think of this as a feeling rather than a timetable.
A market, bakery or village stop that would never make it onto a rushed itinerary.
A swim, a ride, a walk or simply an afternoon that is not over-planned.
An easy meal, tomorrow’s rough plan and the feeling that you have properly arrived.
Your first campervan journey
Start with the rhythm, not the equipment list.
The biggest change is not where you sleep. It is learning to enjoy the space between places: manageable driving, useful pauses and enough time at each base to stop feeling like you are constantly packing.
See the shape of the journey, the intended bases and the approximate driving rhythm before deciding.
Campervan, tent or fixed campsite accommodation can create very different versions of the same holiday.
The strongest route gives you direction without making every hour feel scheduled.

Travelling as a family or group
The best memories rarely need the longest list.
A swim before dinner, a market picnic or finally learning to ride the campsite path can matter more than fitting in one more attraction. Fewer moves usually mean more energy for the things you came to enjoy.
Longer stays let everyone find a rhythm instead of repeatedly starting again.
Outdoor time, food stops and quiet pauses give a group more than one way to enjoy the day.
We use your group details to explore a stay style with suitable sleeping capacity and comfort.
Campsites & comfort
There is no single “campsite experience.”
Some stays are simple and nature-led. Others may offer more facilities and activity. What matters is matching the place to your route, group and preferred level of comfort—not promising that every stop works the same way.
Your stay style
Tell us whether you picture a campervan, tent or more home-style fixed accommodation.
The practical details
Facilities differ from place to place, so the relevant details are checked for your proposed journey.
The setting
A good stay supports the day you want—lake time, village wandering, mountain air or simply an easy evening.
Driving, food & daily life
The little routines are part of the adventure.
A first trip feels easier when you can picture the ordinary moments as well as the beautiful ones. We help make the route understandable; you still get the independence that makes this style of travel special.

Good to know
The exact practical information depends on your dates, vehicle and confirmed stays. These are the questions worth keeping in mind.
Pack for the day, not just the destination
A few simple habits make everything easier.
You do not need to buy an outdoor shop before leaving. Think about layers, everyday access and the activities you genuinely expect to enjoy.
Keep changing weather and outdoor evenings in mind without overpacking.
Put water, essentials and the things you reach for often somewhere genuinely accessible.
Bring the swim, walking or cycling kit that fits the journey you actually want.
Markets, local food and small discoveries are easier when every corner is not already full.
The questions everyone asks
Nothing is too basic to ask.
If this style of holiday is new, these are sensible questions—not silly ones.
What exactly is CampsAway?
CampsAway begins with the whole journey: the route, its rhythm, how you would like to stay and the practical guidance that connects everything. It is not simply a vehicle rental or a list of campsites.
Do I need previous camping experience?
No. Tell us what feels unfamiliar and what level of comfort you want. The aim is to make the journey understandable before you commit to it.
Do I have to travel by campervan?
No. The Journey Builder can explore campervan, tent or fixed campsite accommodation directions. What is available is confirmed for your dates and group.
What will the campsite facilities be like?
They vary. We do not assume that every stay has the same pool, restaurant, activity programme or sanitary facilities. The relevant details are shared with the proposed journey.
Will we have to cook every meal?
Not necessarily. The balance may include easy outdoor meals, markets, local food stops and restaurants where they fit the route. You can tell us how you like your holiday days to feel.
Is driving a campervan difficult?
It can feel unfamiliar at first, which is why the intended driving rhythm matters. Your final journey information should match the actual vehicle and dates, including the practical guidance relevant to that trip.
Is this suitable for children?
It can be. The strongest family journeys use manageable movement, longer stays and plenty of outdoor time. Your children’s ages and your group’s needs help shape the right direction.
What should we pack?
Think in layers and routines: outdoor evenings, swim or walking time, simple meals and an easy-access bag for driving days. Confirmed journey information can then cover the trip-specific details.
What happens after I pay the booking deposit?
CampsAway proceeds with the requested route, campervan and stays, then sends you the final payment link and booking confirmation.
Is the €150 the full journey price?
No. It is the booking deposit collected at checkout. The remaining journey payment is requested separately after CampsAway has arranged the booking.
